Post Malone

Take a step back and just look at the person. You haven’t listened to any music yet. What does Post Malone communicate with his look? I think you can come up with a lot of assumptions. Such as, he’s just another white rapper wanna be…right? Just from some light research I know a lot of people seem to judge him on various levels.

But… then you press play and Broken Whisky Glass starts playing and you go…What….is…THIS!!??

R&B marries Hip Hop, gives birth to Country and Pop, has a fling with Jazz, and takes Folk, Emo and Rock on a date. Stoney, Post Malone’s debut album at 22 (yes 22) is an amazing album from beginning to end. And I’m just talking music alone. I personally think that the song you open and close an album with can make or break it. He killed it. And closing with Feeling Whitney? Damn. The production, the arrangement, and the choices he made. Each song flows into the next and yet they each have their own independent voice. It’s Beautiful, and folks, REALLY HARD TO DO!  I love that initial perceptions of him are totally off.

You cannot put this young man in a box. Glad we have the same philosophy:  music is music. What genres? And I love him for that.
